Over ten months ago, a group of faithful Maumelle Friends of the Animals volunteers came together to rebuild the organization following months of hardship.
Since their first meeting last December, the organization has worked to rebuild what was lost, restructure areas under duress, and repair the relationships damaged with partners and the community in the past.
Thanks to volunteers and the community, Maumelle Friends of the Animals has rebounded over the past year. The organization has attended multiple community events, hosted its most successful Puppy Pool Pawty to date, and most importantly, has reacquired the assets embezzled by a former organization president.
The group’s new leadership made reacquiring these generously donated assets and putting them back to work in the community a top priority. Those efforts have now paid off.
Maumelle Friends of the Animals is happy to announce the former president has just repaid the amount owed to the organization. The payment came after over a year of work by prosecutors to seek justice for the organization.
Maumelle Friends of the Animals is thankful to the prosecutors who worked diligently on this case, the volunteers who have spent months rebuilding the organization, and the community for their support as the organization worked to begin repairing relationships and trust following previous mismanagement.
Despite today’s good news, the work continues. Now more than ever, the organization is poised to make an impact on animals across Maumelle. In recent weeks, that impact has been felt through 450 pounds of kibble donations to Maumelle Animal Services. The donation came from funds raised at last month’s Puppy Pool Pawty. Additional food donations are on the way thanks to an organizational donation box set up at the Maumelle Kroger.
The work has just begun. Maumelle Friends of the Animals leadership and volunteers are working on additional programs to help animals in Maumelle. Stay tuned. The best is yet to come. If you have any questions, we welcome you to attend one of our monthly meetings!
